Gaucho
Services | Restaurant Interior Design
DesignLSM have played an integral role in the evolution of Gaucho following the completion of the Charlotte Street (London), Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, Cardiff, Covent Garden and City (London). The collaboration has seen our creative agency produce a fresh concept for the brand – steering away from the masculine black and white cow hide that it had become renowned for, delivering a softer, more feminine touch to appeal to a wider audience, as well as creating a stronger daytime offering. The developed design DNA has created a modern aesthetic that speaks to the locality of each new project as well as highlighting the vibrancy of Argentina’s rich cultural and culinary heritage that Gaucho represents.
Gaucho Charlotte Street, London
Our brief was to rejuvenate the existing restaurant and ground floor space, working closely with the CEO, Martin Williams and his team to create a compelling narrative that resonates with the brand’s new socially responsible vision. Exploring the cultural and visual narrative of Argentina and the Gaucho way of life, we considered the spirit and stunning landscapes – from the dramatic mountainscapes, pampas regions through to the high-altitude vineyards.
Gaucho Glasgow
The interior design combines the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, the distinctive wild Argentinian planes, and the urban landscape of Glasgow, to exude a casual, effortless glamour, that crosses the boundaries of urban chic with industrious cowboy(girl) and winemaker. Creating engaging moments throughout the restaurant, the dramatic monochrome marble-effect bar takes centre stage, whilst the contrasting colour palette of earth tones of the central seating compliment the lavish steel blue velvet booths which elegantly frame the space.
Gaucho Liverpool
Housed within a Grade II listed property, the new restaurant has seen a compelling interior design scheme implemented which was influenced by the grandeur of the heritage architecture; drawing parallels to South America’s colonial style buildings, whilst being inspired by the ambience of the passion-fuelled tango clubs that bring the streets alive at night in Buenos Aires.
Gaucho Newcastle
With the city being famous for fuelling Britain’s industrial revolution and becoming known as the ‘workshop of the world’, the interior design for Gaucho Newcastle is inspired by, and echoes the rich manufacturing history of this vibrant location. Through careful selection of materials and shapes, that are intertwined with the glamorous Gaucho DNA, particularly looking at forms through the use of metal and glass, the restaurants pays homage to the local historic roots and craftsmanships of Newcastle’s past and future, whilst reflecting the passion and casual elegance of the brand’s Argentinian DNA.
Gaucho Cardiff
Taking inspiration from Cardiff’s Tiger Bay (once the world’s most prominent coal port) and Argentina’s dynamic history of mining and trading metals, the design narrative for Gaucho Cardiff intertwines the potent histories of these two trade hubs, drawing from the copper shades found in both the fire of Cardiff’s coal furnaces and the fruitful copper mines of the Argentinian plains with contrasting elements of black steel to introduce a hint of dark glamour.
Gaucho Covent Garden
Inspired by the parallels of the artistic spaces in Covent Garden and the passion-fuelled tango clubs in Buenos Aires, the concept for Gaucho Convent evokes an urban reflection of the Gaucho design DNA, injecting new life and energy into the space, reflecting the movement and and form of dance, with a touch of decadence and intrigue, coupled with a provocative twist.
Gaucho City
Gaucho City underwent a refurbishment to align the interior aesthetic with the evolved design DNA, incorporating key design statements that draw inspiration from the landscapes and textures of Latin America, injecting new life into the space to deliver a sophisticated dining destination in the heart of Monument, London.
